The service provides a confidential case-intake process that allows individuals to create a case, generate digital fingerprints of relevant files directly in their browser, and later check the status of the case. The original photo or video is not uploaded to AntiNCII.org. Instead, the browser creates a digital fingerprint on the user’s device before the case is submitted.
AntiNCII.org was developed around the principle of collecting only the minimum information necessary to process a case. According to the project, stored case data can include answers provided during the intake process, the platforms named in the report, digital fingerprints of the files, and a password hash. Email is optional and is used only for limited case-related communication.
“People dealing with the unauthorized distribution of private images are often asked to share even more sensitive information in order to seek help,” said a spokesperson for AntiNCII.org.
The service is intended for adults who are themselves depicted in the image or video and who were at least 18 years old when the media was created. Cases involving minors are directed to dedicated child-safety reporting resources rather than being processed through the AntiNCII case system.
The case process is divided into four stages. Users first complete a short eligibility wizard, then select the relevant files on their device. The browser generates digital fingerprints for those files, after which the user receives a case number and creates a password. Case status can then be checked through the website. AntiNCII.org states that users may also withdraw a case, which removes the fingerprints held by the service.
AntiNCII.org is designed to complement, rather than replace, existing reporting channels. The project directs users to additional resources where appropriate, including platform reporting mechanisms, specialist support organizations, law-enforcement options and child-safety services.
The launch reflects a broader focus on privacy-preserving approaches to online safety, particularly in situations where victims may be reluctant to upload sensitive material to another service in order to request assistance.
AntiNCII.org is now available online and provides information about eligibility, the case process, privacy practices and additional support resources.
