Drug education training offered by the Church of Scientology Kansas City

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, November 30, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Anyone wishing to take action on the drug problem affecting Kansas City is invited to attend a Drug-Free World training session at the Church of Scientology on Saturday, November 30, at 18th and Grand Blvd in Kansas City, Missouri. Those interested in attending should call the Church at (816) 753-6590 for times and directions.

The training was organized based on the success of last week’s drug prevention open house and seminar at the Church, which focused on The Truth About Drugs, the interactive program of Foundation for a Drug-Free World, a nonprofit public benefit corporation that empowers youth and adults with factual information about drugs so they can make informed decisions and live drug-free.

“We held this open house to raise awareness about the need for action,” said Church Public Affairs Director Bennette Seaman.

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), every dollar spent on effective school-based drug education and prevention programs could save $18. And that is not even factoring in the toll drugs take on the lives of abusers and their families.

The program last weekend featured a firefighter and former police officer who shared real-life stories about drug abuse. Those attending were engaged by the presentation and asked questions.

The Truth About Drugs program is one of the humanitarian initiatives the Church of Scientology supports.

“The program is set up to provide the facts because when people learn the truth about drugs, they can make their own self-determined decision to live drug-free,” said Seaman.

The Truth About Drugs materials and training on how to successfully use them is available at the Church of Scientology of Kansas City, at their new location, 1805 Grand Blvd, in Kansas City, Mo. Anyone wishing to learn more is invited to visit the Public Information Center in the Church lobby, which is open Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Church of Scientology and Scientologists support Foundation for a Drug-Free World and make these materials available free of charge to anyone wishing to use them to handle the drug-abuse epidemic. After extensive social research, author, humanitarian and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard called drugs “the single most destructive element present in our current culture.”

Teenage Entrepreneur Writes Amazon Best-Seller

Andre Haykal’s book became an Amazon Bestseller.

What They Won’t Teach You is a new bestselling book about How Young Entrepreneurs Can Find Success Outside of the Classroom.

BINGHAMTON, NEW YORK, USA, November 29, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Andre Haykal Jr., a 19-year-old college sophomore at Binghamton University, has released his first book, What They Won’t Teach You: How Young Entrepreneurs Can Find Success Outside of the Classroom.

The teenage entrepreneur adopted a system to write his book in less than three months developed by his writing coach, Roger L. Brooks, founder of American Real Media.

“In the first week of January, I challenged Andre to write a book,” Brooks said, recalling Haykal was taken back. “Because he started his own podcast a few months prior, and stayed consistent with it, I knew he held the skillset to write a book,” he added.

At first, Haykal brushed the challenge off as a joke, recalling he told Brooks writing was his biggest weakness. “I told Roger I nearly flunked English class in high school. His response was, ‘You can talk, can’t you?’” Haykal said.

The strategy Brooks uses is to teach his clients to write how they speak. It’s a technique Haykal embraced. After agreeing, the duo met the following day and after only one whiteboard session, Haykal selected his title What They Won’t Teach You, and had his entire book outlined.

Haykal wanted his subject matter to follow along the lines of his passion to teach and inspire student entrepreneurs in becoming the best version of themselves. By writing and publishing this book, Haykal was doing just that, challenging himself to walk-the-walk.

For the next three months, the teenage freshman set an early alarm, writing 2-3 pages each morning — all while maintaining a 3.7 GPA. After completing each chapter, he sent his work to Brooks who held him accountable. Upon reaching his goal of 200 pages, the first draft of his manuscript was completed and Haykal was one step closer to becoming a published author. He now had the daunting task of finding a publisher. Haykal quickly made a business decision to take matters into his own hands. He designed the cover, paid student editors from the university and published the book through Amazon. In its first week of release, What They Won’t Teach You became a best seller.

“The moral of this story is that we can, and should, challenge ourselves to perform at the highest possible level. Sometimes that means doing things against the grain. Yes, he’s in college, I get it. But guess what? He just wrote a best seller and now he’s raised the bar,” Brooks said.

Haykal attributes the success of his first book to striving for greatness, while seeking discomfort, and staying persistent and consistent until his end goal was met.

You can purchase Andre Haykal, Jr.’s book, What They Won’t Teach You, on Amazon for only $9.99.

Grupo Folklorico Mahetzi held their 9th anniversary celebration at the Historic Fort Harrison. The Mexican folkloric dance group performed several sets of traditional dances endemic to different Mexican states from Tabasco to Chiapas and half a dozen more

CLEARWATER, FL, UNITED STATES, November 28, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — On Sunday the 24th of November, the Grupo Folklorico Mahetzi held their 9th anniversary celebration at the Historic Fort Harrison, the iconic retreat of the Church of Scientology Flag Service Organization. The Mexican folkloric dance group performed several sets of traditional dances endemic to different Mexican states from Tabasco to Chiapas and half a dozen more.

The theme for the recital was Día de los Muertos, (or Day of the Dead), which is a celebration of life and death which originated in Mexico. Forty dancers wearing traditional dresses, and half skull makeup performed for nearly three hours to the delight of the some 500 friends and family members in attendance.

“We are doing this for the kids” said Mere Pioquinto, founder of Grupo Folklorico Mahetzi. “Youth need to know their culture and where they are from, it is part of their identity, this is the reason why I founded the group.”

The funds raised from the Anniversary celebration help to fund the group’s costumes, which are handmade. The young dancers, who worked hard all year to learn dance moves were awarded for their hard work and beautiful performances.

“It is a pleasure for the Fort Harrison to host such a artistic and cultural group” said Clemence Chevrot, the Community Affairs Director for the Church of Scientology Flag Land Base. “It goes along with what Scientology’s founder L. Foster Families Enjoy Christmas Cheer with the Clearwater Community Volunteers at Annual Photo Shoot

On November 23rd, a family from the Pinellas County Foster and Adoptive Parents Association (PCFAPA) poses for their annual Christmas photos at the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center. The event was co-sponsored by PCFAPA and CCV at no cost to the memb

CLEARWATER, FL, UNITED STATES, November 28, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Foster and adoptive families of the Pinellas County Foster and Adoptive Parents Association (PCFAPA) converged at the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center (CCV) for their annual Christmas photo shoot. The CCV center provided its facilities at no cost for the day-long photo shoot with nearly 70 foster parents and children participating in creating classic family photos for their remote relatives.

Complete with backdrop, lighting and holiday décor families posed with borrowed ornaments from the Clearwater Community Volunteers’ “Wreath Central” of Winter Wonderland, a winter village and food/toy drive for low-income families in the Greater Tampa Bay Area.

The photo shoot was put on by PCFAPA at no cost to the member families.

“PCFAPA supports its member families in more ways than one can count.” said Michael Soltero, manager of the CCV Center. “In its mission to pave the road to success for foster and adoptive families PCFAPA helps to take care of things like Christmas photos in the best interest of both parents and children. This aligns with what Scientology founder, L. Ron Hubbard wrote ‘A child factually does not to well without love, most children have an abundance of it to return’.

The shoot started at 1030AM with set ups beginning before the CCV Center opened. One by one each family stepped foot into the winter “snow” carpet for professionally done photos.

Dora Starling, President of PCFAPA, said “This was an amazing opportunity for our families and we’re all grateful for it. Professionally done family photos can cost a fortune and with the Clearwater Community Volunteers donating their space the cost was cut down substantially. Each year our families change and these photos let us go back to see what faces we’ve had with us. As far as I'm concerned, whoever is living in our home is our family.”

To find out more information about PCFAPA please visit their website at PCFAPA.org.

For information about the Clearwater Community Volunteers center please call Michael Soltero at (727) 316-5309 or email ccvcenter@ccvfl.org.

Educating Pakistani Youth on Their Human Rights

Students at a government school near Islamabad hold up posters with the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights included in the educators’ package available through the Youth for Human Rights website.

The first step in resolving human rights issues is education.

Youth for Human Rights believes human rights education can improve the lives of Pakistani youth.

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, November 27, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — On the eve of the 71st anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, December 10, Pakistan’s youth lag behind most countries for education and other basic rights. According to the KidsRights Index, an annual global index that ranks how countries adhere to and are equipped to improve children’s rights, of 183 countries ranked, Pakistan was found at 154.

An article in the Daily Pakistan last year estimated “around 10 million Pakistani kids have to work to help their families at school-going age. Many are sold as domestic servants who are treated as slaves with no rights.” It also points out that the majority of Pakistani children have to toil in the agriculture sector without compensation while others work at workshops. They are denied an education that could improve their chances of becoming employed.

While the government is working to right these issues, the problem is systemic, driven by poverty and the huge proportion of the population comprised of children or young adults. Nearly a third of the country is younger than 15 and more than 50 percent under 25.

Youth for Human Rights believes that vital to improving conditions for children is educating those who are in school on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. By understanding that the 30 rights enshrined in the document belong to all people, young and old, they will become advocates for programs that provide these rights to all segments of the population.

In one community, where most of the children work as laborers in the brick kilns, educating those attending school on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights resulted in 35 who were working in the kilns returning to school, as the students reached out to help their friends. That was just a start in one community, but it shows the power of making these rights known.

Youth for Human Rights International is the youth component of United for Human Rights (UHR), an international, not-for-profit organization dedicated to implementing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at local, regional, national and international levels. Its membership is comprised of individuals, educators and groups throughout the world who are actively forwarding the knowledge and protection of human rights by and for all Mankind.

The Church of Scientology and Scientologists support Youth for Human Rights and make its educational materials available free of charge. Watch the public service announcements that bring the Universal Declaration of Human Rights to life to children the world over on the Scientology Network.
